AVLM, the Madeira Free Flight Association, introduces people to unpowered flight and supports the free-flying community across the Madeira archipelago. Its website explains the basics of free flight, including how pilots use aerodynamic lift and weather conditions to fly, and highlights the knowledge, practical training and responsible attitude the sport requires. The main disciplines covered are paragliding and hang gliding, with information also outlining related powered forms such as paramotoring.

For aspiring and experienced pilots, AVLM provides resources on getting started, pilot development and local flying rules. Its practical information includes airspace and air traffic control guidance, flight reporting, notices to airmen, licences and insurance, radio communication, and links to weather forecasts. The association also supports competition through event calendars, regional distance and cross-country leagues, landing accuracy contests, regulations, results and useful files, including GPS resources. News, articles and competition updates keep members and visitors informed. AVLM presents free flight not simply as a pursuit of records, but as an opportunity to enjoy flying, develop skills and experience personal achievement in Madeira.
