Vermont Dog Behavior

Vermont Dog Behavior is the practice of certified dog behavior consultant Emily Lewis, who helps dogs and their people navigate challenging behaviors and build calmer, more supportive relationships. Emily offers in-home behavior consultations, beginning with an assessment of the dog, household, and concerns. She then identifies possible causes and develops a customized plan for the family to put into practice.

The practice supports a range of issues, including barking, lunging, growling, resource guarding, aggression toward people or dogs, fights between dogs in the same household, separation anxiety, fear, and limited socialization. Emily’s approach prioritizes animal welfare and positive reinforcement, while considering dogs’ biological, psychological, and social needs and helping owners communicate more effectively with them.

Emily brings more than 25 years of professional experience as a dog trainer, shelter behavior consultant, and veterinary technician. She is a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant with the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants and has extensive shelter experience.
