About The Vertical Flight Society
The Vertical Flight Society (VFS) is the world's oldest and largest technical society dedicated to enhancing the understanding of vertical flight technology. Founded as the American Helicopter Society (AHS) in 1943, the Society has been the primary forum for the exchange of information on vertical flight technology. As a non-profit, charitable educational and technical organization, VFS aims to advance the theory and practice of the science of vertical flight aircraft.
With a vision of being an inclusive and diverse international organization, VFS advocates, promotes, and supports vertical flight technology, policies, and professional development. The Society organizes and co-sponsors regional and international conferences, symposia, and workshops, facilitating the advancement of helicopter and other VTOL aircraft technology. VFS publishes the premier bi-monthly magazine, Vertiflite, as well as the peer-reviewed technical publication, The Journal of the AHS.
