The English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS) is a registered charity that champions folk music and dance as an important part of cultural life across England. Based at Cecil Sharp House in London, the Society supports folk arts practitioners, researchers and the wider public through a range of cultural, educational and archival resources.
Its Vaughan Williams Memorial Library is a free resource for exploring traditional song, tunes, dance and related customs. Visitors can use library and archive catalogues, indexes, digitised materials, subject guides and research services, or arrange to consult original archive materials on site. The Society also shares knowledge through publications, conferences, lectures, talks and online courses, and hosts events including song and dance gatherings. Its work includes the National Youth Folk Ensemble and projects focused on folk arts and heritage.
EFDSS invites people to discover songs, tunes and dances by location or source, attend events at Cecil Sharp House, become members, and support its work through donations.
