VZS Ostrava

Vodní záchranná služba ČČK Ostrava, p.s. is an independent branch association and part of the Czech Red Cross Water Rescue Service. Based in Ostrava, it contributes to the Czech Integrated Rescue System and provides water-rescue, medical, training, and public-awareness services.

Its rescue work includes safety supervision at open-water sites, particularly Hlučín Lake, as well as at aquaparks, outdoor swimming areas, and indoor pools. The organization also provides medical coverage and first aid at water-sport competitions, outdoor activities, and other events, including festivals and cultural gatherings. Its teams support activities such as water skiing, sailing, windsurfing, rowing, long-distance swimming, triathlon, and white-water boating. Qualified personnel include licensed water rescuers, paramedics, doctors, and divers, supported by rescue equipment.

The association also trains and educates rescuers for pools and open-water venues. It offers water-rescue courses and examinations, basic rescuer training, first-aid instruction, and AED practice, and introduces water rescue at community events. Its services can be arranged with event organizers.
