WAFCA

WAFCA (Asia Wheelchair Exchange Center) is a Japanese nonprofit international cooperation NGO working to support the independence and quality of life of children with disabilities in Asia. Its activities focus on Thailand, Indonesia, and Japan, guided by the belief that freedom of mobility can open up children’s futures. Rather than simply distributing wheelchairs, WAFCA assesses each child’s needs, fits a wheelchair to their body and disability, and provides repairs, follow-up care, and replacements as children grow.

This wheelchair support is complemented by education programs, barrier-free environment assistance, and exchange activities, creating a broader approach to inclusion and independence. The organization also operates a “Wheelchair Hospital” service for wheelchair repairs and inspections, and offers school outreach lessons and talks. Supporters can contribute through donations, annual membership, corporate partnerships, volunteering, internships, and events.

WAFCA also offers charity goods to help support its work. Through collaboration with individuals and companies, it aims to connect children with mobility, learning opportunities, and fuller participation in society
