Women Action Foundation Kenya

Women Action Foundation Kenya (WAF-Kenya) is a women‑led, non‑profit organisation enabling women living in poverty to participate fully in the economy and build sustainable, dignified livelihoods. We address a persistent strain in women’s economic empowerment: income gains do not last when unpaid care particularly childcare is ignored. Skills and capital alone are not enough when women lack time and stability. WAFKenya responds by treating care as essential economic infrastructure. We implement a care-enabled economic access model that integrates safe, affordable community childcare with market‑relevant skills development, access to income opportunities and productive capital, and structured mentorship. This enables women to apply skills consistently, protect investments, and stabilise income over time—while ensuring children are safe and supported. Our work is grounded in community realities and informed by years of grassroots engagement. Through earlier programmes in SRHR, life skills, and basic economic education, WAFKenya reached over 10,000 women and girls, generating critical insights into the structural barriers that keep women poor. These learnings shaped our evolution toward an outcome‑driven model focused on sustained income and graduation from poverty. We work with partners committed to poverty reduction and systems‑aware approaches to women’s economic participation. 🌍 Kenya 🤝 Partnerships | Gender Equity | Economic Inclusion | Childcare 🌐 www.wafkenya.org
