About Waiheke Whisky
Waiheke Whisky is a New Zealand distillery based on Waiheke Island, where it has been making and maturing single malt whisky for more than 15 years. Guided by a connection to the island, the team describes its approach as caring for the whisky from grain to glass and gathering locally. Its production combines organic Canterbury malted barley with fresh, salty rainwater, while maturation draws on traditional ex-bourbon casks alongside Chardonnay and Syrah wine barrels. The distillery also uses distinctive, purpose-designed stills and produces peated expressions.
The range includes single malts, peated whiskies, releases finished or matured in selected casks, and Fairlight, the brand’s first international blend, created with master distiller Alan Winchester. Customers can shop bottles, tasting sets, gift cards, clothing and gifts, and explore a cask programme. Waiheke Whisky welcomes visitors to its distillery and visitor centre at 64 Onetangi Road, where it offers tastings and cultural and educational tours.
