About Wairere Boulders
Welcome to Wairere Boulders, a Geological Nature Reserve located in the scenic Hokianga region of New Zealand. Our tranquil farm offers visitors a chance to explore a magical environment filled with unique rock formations. Walk along our well-maintained trails through the bush and Wairere Boulder valley, getting up close to nature and witnessing the volcanic basalt boulders fluted by bush tannins. These boulders have created a world-renowned Lava Forest, making our reserve truly special.
For the adventurers, we offer kayak rentals, allowing you to paddle down the Wairere Stream and explore the wetland and Hokianga Harbour. Camping enthusiasts will also find solace here, with a campground that provides a peaceful and picturesque setting under the clearest skies in the world.
On our farm, we have Highland cows, perfectly adapted to living off poor quality grass and happily climbing boulders in their search for food. Our passionate team, made up of Graham, Paula, and their six kids, have sought out this unique home and are dedicated to sharing its wonders with visitors.
Come and immerse yourself in the beauty of Wairere Boulders Nature Reserve, a place that will leave you awestruck.
