About Wake Forest Historical Museum
Wake Forest Historical Museum preserves and shares the history of Wake Forest, North Carolina, through exhibitions, collections, educational resources, programs, and community partnerships. The museum features permanent and rotating exhibits in its main building, while the historic Dr. Calvin Jones House offers a connection to the area’s past; the house once stood at the center of a 615-acre plantation. The Wake Forest College Birthplace Society, which has worked for more than half a century to preserve local history, supports the museum’s mission.
Visitors can explore historical walking tours, public events, lectures, and photographic displays, including Strolling White Street, a collection documenting changes in downtown transportation, architecture, and commerce. The museum also provides opportunities for volunteering, research, facility rentals, and photography, alongside educator resources and access to its collections. Its projects include historic marker initiatives and local building and business research, developed with community partners. Through exhibits, events, preservation efforts, and outreach, the museum helps residents and visitors engage with the people, places, and stories that have shaped Wake Forest.
