Waldfriedhof Süntel

Waldfriedhof Süntel is a natural woodland burial ground in the Süntel, around 50 kilometres southwest of Hannover, on the sunny southern slope of the Westerberg. Set beneath mature beech trees, it offers urn burials in the root areas of trees and welcomes people of all religious backgrounds, particularly those who feel a strong connection to nature. The woodland is left to develop naturally, allowing the seasons to shape the surroundings and the resting places without conventional grave maintenance or required floral decorations.

The site offers family and friendship trees, individual and partner resting places, and an urn area for children’s burials. Families can arrange ceremonies according to their wishes, with two thoughtfully equipped spaces available for memorial gatherings. The team provides sensitive guidance and support to people considering a woodland burial and to their families. Waldfriedhof Süntel presents an alternative to a traditional grave for those seeking a quiet, natural place of remembrance and a lasting connection with the ecological cycle.
