Waldurne

Waldfriedhof Waldurne is a private natural burial ground in Trockenerfurth, near Borken in North Hesse, Germany. Set across approximately three hectares beside a protected nature area, it offers a peaceful woodland setting where cremated remains are placed in biodegradable urns at the roots of trees. The tree serves as a lasting memorial, without a headstone or ongoing grave-care obligations.

Waldurne offers four burial options: an anonymous placement, an individual tree for one urn, a shared tree for two people, and a family tree for families or groups. Prices start at €583 for an anonymous burial, with an additional charge for opening and closing the grave. Tree-use rights and registration in the tree register are included, along with personal advice. Inhabitant Karl-Martin Gabbey supports families from their first enquiry through the burial, while partner funeral directors assist with arrangements across North Hesse. The organisation also provides advance planning, information about the process, and free woodland tours on the first Sunday of each month.
