About Wallensteintage Stralsund
Wallensteintage Stralsund is a longstanding historical folk festival held in the heart of Stralsund’s old town. The annual event commemorates the city’s successful resistance to the siege led by Wallenstein’s imperial troops in 1628, bringing the atmosphere of the Thirty Years’ War to streets and public squares. In 2026, the festival is scheduled for July 23–26.
Visitors can experience a procession, battle re-enactments, the Pestzug, fireworks and stage programmes throughout the day. The event also features a historic market around the Alter Markt, Knieperstraße and Hansa-Wiese, where traders and craftspeople offer goods, food and drink. At the harbour, a fairground market includes rides ranging from bumper cars to a large swing. A camp beside the town wall offers a glimpse of life among musketeers, pikemen, artillerymen and camp followers, while performers and other walking acts appear across the old town. The festival’s website provides programme details, travel information, galleries and updates for visitors, sponsors and participating traders.
