About WANEP-Ghana
WANEP-Ghana is a peacebuilding non-governmental organization (NGO) that operates nationwide through its regional chapters. Born out of the Bawku Peace Initiative, WANEP-Ghana aims to address the increasing violence and conflicts in northern Ghana. The organization was registered and incorporated under the corporate laws of Ghana in 2002 and is one of the national offices of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
WANEP-Ghana focuses on strengthening the capacity of various stakeholders, particularly at the community level, to prevent violent conflicts. They emphasize conflict prevention by addressing the root and proximity causes of conflicts. WANEP-Ghana collaborates with the state, community groups, civil society, and other peace actors to build a culture of peace.
Their goal is to achieve just and peaceful coexistence across Ghana, prioritizing the dignity of the human person. Through grassroots ownership and cooperation with member organizations, WANEP-Ghana aims to create an enabling environment for national growth and sustainable peaceful coexistence
