The World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) is an international organisation established in 1989 to help strengthen nuclear safety and excellence across the nuclear industry. Its guiding principle is that safety is not bound by borders: by connecting nations, nuclear operators and industry providers, WANO supports collaboration, the exchange of best practices and continuous improvement.
WANO membership gives industry professionals access to resources, networking and events, analysis and review, learning and development, and support and advice. Its services include peer reviews, trends and performance monitoring, industry performance improvement, new unit assistance and industry working groups. The organisation also maintains a resource library and member directory, and provides opportunities for younger professionals through WANO Young Generation activities and awards recognising excellence and emerging talent.
With regional centres and offices serving members around the world, WANO brings together expertise from across the industry. Through its support, events and shared learning, the association works with members toward a common goal: improving the safe and reliable operation of nuclear power plants worldwide.
