"War Album" is a digital archive of Second World War (1939-1945) photographs, the first in Russia to offer a free high-quality photographic database. The project aims to preserve a vast collection of high-quality photos and provide convenient access to them, emphasizing the original image size (some up to 6000×4000 resolution). The collection grows following principles that include no alterations to images, careful categorization, and detailed textual descriptions whenever possible.
Launched on June 8, 2009, "War Album" is a private project not affiliated with any organization, led by Stanislav Zharkov. The website features news updates, a Telegram channel, advanced photo search tools, and a thriving community of photo enthusiasts.
