Washinkai1977

Washinkai Karate is a karate organisation in England, offering training and club opportunities for people interested in learning the art. Its guiding message, “More than just kicking and punching,” reflects a broader approach to karate, supported by a structured syllabus and formal gradings. The organisation provides information about equipment and licensing, and its website includes details about clubs, events, instructors and child protection.

Washinkai’s Chief Instructor is Shihan Chris Thompson, who began studying karate in 1969 and has been involved in the development of karate in England for more than 50 years. His early training included learning from Japanese Wado Ryu instructors who came to England and Europe, among them Suzuki, Fuji and Maeda, followed later by Kitamura, Kobayashi and Shinohara.

Members can log in to access their accounts and instructional videos, while prospective participants can apply to join. Washinkai also provides contact information for enquiries about its clubs and activities, along with news and resources for members.
