The Forum for Policy Dialogue on Water Conflicts in India, established in 2003, serves as a vital network for individuals and organizations dedicated to addressing water conflicts throughout the country. This collaborative platform has successfully completed two significant phases focused on documenting and resolving water-related disputes. Currently, in its third phase, the Forum is delving into crucial issues within the Mahanadi basin, emphasizing environmental flows, agricultural and industrial water use, and groundwater conflicts.
With a membership exceeding 250 individuals, the Forum fosters engagement through its Advisory Committee and Steering Committee, which guide its strategic initiatives. Under the aegis of the Society for Promoting Participative Ecosystem Management (SOPPECOM), the Forum conducts various core and thematic activities to promote sustainable water management.
In addition to conflict resolution efforts, the Forum actively disseminates valuable resources, including publications, articles, and policy briefs, aimed at raising awareness and fostering dialogue around pressing water issues in India.
