Waterkeepers Iraq is a brand that is dedicated to the protection and preservation of rivers and waterways in the Tigris-Euphrates Basin. Established in 2010, Waterkeepers Iraq is the first Waterkeeper Project in the Middle East. The organization was initiated by Nature Iraq, a conservation organization, and later became an independent non-governmental organization registered in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

Waterkeepers Iraq-Kurdistan, based in Sulaimani, focuses on advocacy and awareness raising for the protection of the Tigris basin in Iraqi Kurdistan. The brand operates in three program areas: effective water resource planning, water quality protection, and advocacy, education, and outreach. They work towards equitable water resource management, monitoring and combating water pollution, and raising awareness among communities, scientists, and government stakeholders about protecting Iraq's water resources.

Waterkeepers Iraq is affiliated with the international Waterkeepers Alliance, which has advocates across the globe. The aim of Waterkeepers Iraq is to expand its network of waterkeepers or waterkeeper affiliates throughout the Tigris-Euphrates Basin, to ensure the preservation of Iraq's water quality, fisheries, and aquatic diversity
