About GWPP
The Global Water Pathogens Project (GWPP) is a collaborative initiative focused on enhancing public health through safe water and effective sanitation practices. Comprising over 300 professionals from fields such as environmental microbiology and public health, GWPP is dedicated to providing quantitative data on pathogens found in wastewater and the environment.
Their efforts aim to support the Sustainable Development Goal 6, which focuses on clean water and sanitation worldwide. Key components of GWPP include an extensive book titled Sanitation and Disease in the 21st Century, and specialized tools like K2P and W-SPHERE, facilitating access to critical pathogen data and resources. Supported by the Michigan State University Axia Institute and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the GWPP exemplifies a commitment to safeguarding global health through informed sanitation and water safety measures
