The WaterWise Hub is a partnership between 21 European partners, promoting knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and the acceleration of circular water innovation across seven SE European, and Eastern Partnership Countries. The hub aims to create a dynamic water research and innovation (R&I) ecosystem tailored to the unique challenges of Widening Countries, particularly the rural areas. Its mission is to drive the adoption of circular and decentralized water solutions that enhance resource efficiency, minimize waste, regenerate natural systems, and build resilience against climate change. The project further advances its goals by engaging the Quadruple Helix Innovation Model, which connects academia, industry/Business (including SMEs and start-ups), civil society, and govenment to create long-lasting impact and facilitate the faster adoption of the proposed solutions. This project receives funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 101184151

WaterWise Hub is a European initiative advancing smarter, more sustainable water management through circular and decentralised solutions. It brings together academia, businesses, public authorities and civil society to address water pollution, overuse and inefficient systems. Its approach promotes reducing water consumption, reusing water in homes, agriculture and industry, and treating wastewater so it can be safely returned to the network while protecting natural ecosystems.
The Hub supports researchers, water-related businesses, industries, start-ups, SMEs, governments and local stakeholders with resources to develop and adopt circular water innovations. Its Innovation Accelerator offers technology challenges, open calls, mentoring, funding guidance through a FundFinder portal, and business and legal support via a Technology Transfer Office. Participants can also access residency opportunities at collaborating technology parks, join business-to-business meetings, and take part in joint research and innovation pilot projects with academic, business and end-user partners.
Through training, collaboration and knowledge-sharing activities, including webinars, hackathons and its Knowledge Hub, WaterWise Hub helps innovators test solutions, build partnerships and bring practical water technologies closer to real-world use.
