About The West African Transitional Justice Centre
The West African Transitional Justice Centre (WATJCentre) is a non-profit organization that focuses on research, training, and practice in the field of transitional justice in West Africa and globally. Established in 2020 with its headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria, WATJCentre aims to influence policy and learning on the African continent by providing technical solutions to governments in the region regarding the design and implementation of transitional justice mechanisms. The organization offers specialized training for various stakeholders including diplomats, government officials, academics, media practitioners, civil society actors, and students.
Additionally, WATJCentre is committed to developing a teaching curriculum for transitional justice, creating future academics and practitioners in the field. Through advocacy efforts, WATJCentre works towards the domestication and legitimacy of the African Union Transitional Justice Policy.
