Wauknet is a web-based community resource serving southeastern Wisconsin. Launched around 20 years ago, the Wauknet Portal was among the first community websites in the area, bringing local information together for visitors. The site notes that many other websites now offer similar information and additional resources, and Wauknet has therefore decided to retire the portal.

Its community portal is no longer presented as an ongoing resource, but Wauknet continues to provide a Webmail service for users who rely on it. Visitors can follow the link on the site to reach the Webmail portal, as before. Wauknet’s current offering, based on the information provided, is thus focused on maintaining access to email rather than the broader community information formerly available through its portal.

The announcement marks a transition for a long-running local online resource while preserving a direct route for existing Webmail users
