West Coast Sea Turtle Society

The West Coast Sea Turtle Society (WCSTS) is a community-driven organization dedicated to protecting Pacific sea turtles and their ocean habitats. It brings together people and partners across the Pacific to advance conservation through science, education, and coastal collaboration. Its work includes responding to sea turtle strandings and leading community-based initiatives that support both local livelihoods and healthy habitats. WCSTS aims to foster lasting ecological stewardship and help build connected, resilient coastlines where people and sea turtles can thrive.

A central part of the Society’s work is convening experts and communities. Since 2022, it has organized three-day symposiums focused on sea turtle conservation, education, and advocacy. Past gatherings have taken place at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach and the Living Coast Discovery Center in San Diego. The Society’s upcoming symposium, “West Coast Sea Turtles: Ambassadors Across the Pacific,” is scheduled for November 2–4, 2026. WCSTS also offers ways to learn about its work, review past symposium programs, and join its mailing list.
