About Willem de Kooning Academy
Willem de Kooning Academy (WdKA) is a creative higher-education institution in Rotterdam and part of Hogeschool Rotterdam. It prepares emerging creatives to work across disciplines, encouraging students to look beyond the boundaries of their original fields and develop a broad range of talents and skills. The academy offers associate degree, bachelor’s and master’s programmes, alongside research and practice-based work through its stations, or workspaces.
Study options span art, design, media and management. Areas include photography, audiovisual design, graphic design, illustration, animation, fashion, product and spatial design, advertising, fine art, interior architecture, experimental publishing, lens-based practice and arts education. The academy also offers Leisure & Events Management and an Arts & Crafts associate degree. Some programmes are offered in Dutch, and the site lists a dual-degree option with RASL.
WdKA shares student work, alumni stories, projects, publications, news and events, while providing admissions guidance, open days and application information. Its offerings connect creative education with exploration, making and the exchange of perspectives.
