About We Are SOJO
Sojourners is a fully funded study abroad scholarship and lifelong fellowship designed for Black American college students. Its mission is to cultivate lifelong learners and global neighbors through intentional international learning and travel within a supportive community. In Spring 2028, the organization plans to send twenty-five students to Europe, arranged in five-person cohorts known as SOJOs.
Participants will have the opportunity to study abroad with intention, explore alongside peers who see and affirm them, build friendships, and experience the world together. The program is presented as an experience that can help students return home feeling more alive and connected. Applications for Sojourners’ inaugural cohort are scheduled to open on August 1, 2027, and prospective participants can take an interest survey.
The organization also supports a network of Sojourners Ambassadors, trusted advocates who share its mission through relationships, storytelling, and shared enthusiasm. Ambassadors help connect the right students with the program and do not need access to funding or institutions. Sojourners brings together educational opportunity, travel, and lifelong fellowship
