Weaver Mountains Health Initiative (WMHI) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization formed in 2019 to strengthen health and wellness for more than 3,000 residents across Kirkland, Peeples Valley, Skull Valley, Wilhoit, Yarnell, and surrounding communities in Arizona. Established by founding board members with assistance from the University of Arizona Center for Rural Health, WMHI works collaboratively to foster connections and improve access to local health resources.
Rather than providing clinical care directly, the initiative helps residents find services and information for needs such as medical care, nutrition, housing, counseling, and veteransโ support. It also shares health and wellness information through its blog and community outreach. WMHI organizes an annual Health and Wellness Expo, bringing residents together with health organizations and community partners. Its website highlights services such as the WickCare mobile clinic, which offers primary care, well checks, sick visits, chronic disease management, and medication reviews in Yarnell and Congress. WMHI also gathers community feedback to help partners understand local healthcare needs and support better access to care.
