About Weave: the Social Fabric Project
Weave: The Social Fabric Project, founded by New York Times columnist David Brooks in 2018, aims to combat the growing crisis of social isolation and mistrust in the U.S. by fostering connections and belonging among communities. Housed under the Aspen Institute, Weave inspires individuals to become "weavers" — trusted social leaders who prioritize relationalism over individualism.
The organization connects and supports weavers through diverse programs and resources, including weekly newsletters featuring impactful stories and community-building tips, a dedicated online community for peer support, and a comprehensive Weave Learning Center offering courses in skills such as community organizing and public speaking. Additionally, the Weaver Network provides volunteer opportunities, while the Weaver Awards facilitate microgrants to local initiatives.
By organizing events like #WeaveThePeople gatherings and training weavers for public speaking through the Weave Speakers Bureau, Weave is poised to reach 10 million people in the next decade, bolstering a movement toward a more interconnected society.
