We Care About Animals

We Care About Animals (WCAA) is a nonprofit, no-kill animal welfare charity dedicated to protecting animals from cruelty and neglect. Based in Lexington, Kentucky, the organization works to give animals safety, shelter, food, and appropriate veterinary care, with the broader goal of ensuring neglected animals have a second chance. WCAA also provides practical support to pet owners who may struggle to afford care, helping prevent pets from being surrendered or euthanized because of veterinary costs.

Its assistance includes free spay and neuter surgeries, vaccinations, and help accessing medical treatment or suitable shelter. WCAA encourages the public to report suspected neglect and says it coordinates with law enforcement, animal rescue services, and the Humane Society when an animal may be at risk. The organization also offers community outreach and education focused on animal welfare and preventing abuse and homelessness.

WCAA relies entirely on donations and welcomes volunteers and other supporters, including veterinary providers, fundraisers, committee members, and administrative support staff.
