To become an Event Host, interested participants can register their interest online or by email, followed by completing a full application. While becoming an Event Host is free, individuals are solely responsible for funding and organizing their events, though the festival team can assist with planning and offer support in case of prohibitive costs. The festival showcases a diverse range of events, from talk and tours of the Wellington City Archives to walking tours focusing on artists and heritage crafts.

Wellington Heritage Week is entirely volunteer-operated and funded by sponsorships, public grants, and partnerships with various entities. They are always seeking more volunteers and sponsors to support and enhance the festival
