Well On Their Way

Well On Their Way (WOtW) is an independent nonprofit focused on improving maternal and newborn health in Gulu District, northern Uganda. Established as an independent organization in 2023 after beginning its work in 2011, WOtW supports the frontline providers who deliver much of the region’s care, including midwives, nurses, and clinical officers. Working in partnership with the Gulu District Ministry of Health, the organization aims to help mothers and babies receive safer, more effective care.

WOtW offers three interconnected programs: obstetric point-of-care ultrasound training for midwives, Village Health Team training for community health workers, and clinical skills development for frontline providers. Its training supports essential care during pregnancy, labor, and delivery, including identifying risks, managing complications, and helping newborns who need resuscitation. The organization works with Ugandan master midwives and uses a trainer-of-trainers approach, aligning instruction with Ministry of Health guidelines and local clinical realities. By combining medical expertise, training resources, and community-based knowledge, Well On Their Way seeks to strengthen care across the maternal and newborn health journey.
