Wendrusz

Wendrusz is a historical and exploration association focused on the heritage of Węgorzewo and the wider Masurian region of Poland. Founded in 2021, the organization brings together people with varied interests who share a commitment to learning about and preserving the history of their local community. Its members research the past through books, archival inquiries and fieldwork, and acquire historical objects through exploration, antique fairs, online auctions and antique shops.

The association presents regional history through its History Room in Węgorzewo, where visitors can encounter artifacts and collections gathered by its members. Its activities also include exhibitions, open events, educational initiatives and visits from local and international guests. Recent topics and displays have included historical correspondence, regional finds and the story of a Junkers Ju 188 aircraft from Lake Mamry. Wendrusz shares updates, photographs and information about its projects through its website and social media channels. By collecting objects, conducting research and working with visitors and partner organizations, it aims to make the history of Masuria accessible and encourage interest in the region’s heritage.
