@westafricablue.org
West Africa Blue is a community-centric developer of blue carbon projects in West Africa. Blue’s mission is to work hand-in-hand with local communities to preserve, restore, and sustainably manage coastal ecosystems across West Africa, financed through the issuance of high-quality carbon credits. Our project activities will help build resilience to climate change, limit greenhouse gas emissions from deforestation, protect endangered species, and support new economic opportunities – especially for women. Our projects are some of the first large-scale blue carbon projects in Africa and have the potential to exemplify what it means to be high-quality, community-centric and financially sustainable. We believe that a focus on sharing and collaboration with a diverse group of stakeholders and market participants will help catalyze the market throughout the region and globally.

About West Africa Blue
West Africa Blue is a community-centric brand that focuses on the development of blue carbon projects in West Africa. Their mission is to preserve, restore, and sustainably manage coastal ecosystems in the region, with a strong emphasis on working hand-in-hand with local communities. They finance their projects through the issuance of high-quality carbon credits.
As one of the first large-scale blue carbon projects in Africa, West Africa Blue aims to set the standard for what it means to be community-centric, financially sustainable, and of high quality. They believe that collaboration and sharing with stakeholders and market participants will help catalyze the market in the region and globally. The West Africa coastline's ecosystem is vibrant but under threat.
The mangrove ecosystems found there sequester up to four times more organic carbon than tropical forests and are home to critically endangered species. However, these fragile mangrove ecosystems are disappearing rapidly, leading to a loss of ecosystem services that support local communities. West Africa Blue values community involvement and works closely with local communities, governments, and traditional leaders.
They aim to bring everyone together to unlock the necessary resources for both local and global progress. Operating with integrity and transparency is of utmost importance to them, and they strive to share their learnings and successful approaches to catalyze the blue carbon market not just in West Africa but beyond as well. In summary, West Africa Blue is a brand dedicated to safeguarding coastal ecosystems in West Africa through community partnerships, integrity, collaboration, and inclusive practices
