Westerhope United is a community football club founded in April 2020 during the COVID pandemic. Starting with five teams, it grew through a merger with Lemington Lions later that year and now runs more than 30 teams, serving players from under-7s through to senior football. The club welcomes players of all ages, as well as coaches and volunteers who want to contribute to its community.
Westerhope United provides grassroots coaching and competitive football for boys and girls from Reception to Year 11, generally ages 5 to 16, alongside senior men’s football for players aged 16 and over. Its junior and senior teams offer a supported pathway from youth football into adult competition. Teams compete in the North East Combination League, Northumberland Football League and Russell Foster Youth League. Affiliated with Northumberland FA, the club promotes passion, respect and togetherness on and off the pitch. Based at Valley View, it brings players, families, coaches, volunteers and supporters together through football, with development teams also included in its programme.
