About Western Hills Humane Society
Western Hills Humane Society (WHHS) in Spearfish, SD is dedicated to helping animals and the community. With a variety of programs, they strive to make a positive impact on the lives of both furry friends and their human companions. One of their programs, Seniors for Seniors, matches senior dogs and cats (over 8 years old) with senior citizens aged 62 or older in the Spearfish area.
This unique program offers mutual companionship, reducing depression and stress while increasing social interaction and physical activity. The benefits of pet ownership for seniors are immeasurable, providing a sense of purpose, responsibility, and unconditional love. Additionally, WHHS offers the Pet Pantry Program, designed to assist families facing hardship in order to keep their beloved pets.
By temporarily easing the burden caused by economic challenges, health issues, or emergencies, WHHS ensures that pets can stay in their forever homes where they belong. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, WHHS relies on donations and support from the community to continue their valuable work. With their commitment to animals and their compassionate programs, Western Hills Humane Society is a beacon of hope for animals and people alike
