About Western Plains Public Health
Western Plains Public Health is a five-county local health district providing a wide range of public health services to the people of Grant, Mercer, Morton, Oliver, and Sioux Counties in southwest central North Dakota. Services include environmental health, nursing services, health promotion, and the WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) program. Each of these programs offers a variety of services aimed at ensuring a healthy place to live and providing equal opportunities for good health for all residents.
With a rural/frontier population of 49,853 residents across 6,445 square miles, Western Plains Public Health also serves a high percentage of Native Americans due to the presence of the Standing Rock Indian Reservation. Their commitment to promoting, protecting, and preventing illness helps to create a healthier way of life for their diverse community.
