Westerwolde rijgt

Westerwolde rijgt is an annual garden, art and music event held in the second half of June in the Westerwolde region of southeastern Groningen, the Netherlands. Over nine days, around twenty gardens and distinctive venues welcome visitors, with owners inviting one or more artists to exhibit in their gardens, garden houses or conservatories. Each location offers a different experience, bringing together landscapes, visual art and local hospitality. The event’s working group also organizes a varied music programme, ranging from solo performances and choirs to pop and classical music.

Westerwolde rijgt shares practical details about participating locations, opening times and activities, and admission is free during the event. Some gardens are not normally open to the public. A programme booklet, available at participating venues and selected tourist information points, provides garden descriptions and an activity schedule. Visitors can also collect a bead at each garden and string the beads together as a keepsake. The event presents a new annual theme and publishes updates through its website and social media.
