Westfeather

Westfeather is a fly-fishing instruction and guiding company based in Crested Butte, Colorado, serving the diverse waters of the Gunnison Valley. Its approach centers on education and long-term progression, helping anglers build skills whether they are taking their first steps or exploring a new fishery. Westfeather presents fly fishing as a blend of art, science, and movement, with an emphasis on connecting with nature and understanding the environments that support fish.

The company offers walk-and-wade trips that introduce visitors to the variety of fishing found across the valley, as well as float trips on the upper Gunnison River. Its youth camps aim to spark a lasting interest in fly fishing, rivers, and ecosystems. The region’s cold mountain waters and varied habitats support trout including cutthroat, rainbow, brown, and brook trout, providing a rich setting for learning and guided experiences. Westfeather also shares information through its Feather Project and FAQs. The company operates under a U.S. Forest Service special use permit and identifies itself as an equal opportunity employer.
