The West Ohio Conference of The United Methodist Church has a rich history that dates back to its creation on April 23, 1968. Formed through the merger of the Evangelical United Brethren Church and the Methodist-Episcopal Church, this conference is deeply rooted in the Methodist movement initiated by John and Charles Wesley in the 1730s. As part of the North Central Jurisdiction, the West Ohio Conference is dedicated to equipping local churches to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

Under the leadership of Bishop Gregory Vaughn Palmer, who has served here since 2012, the conference strives to create a world of justice, love, and peace where individuals can grow in the likeness of Jesus Christ. The conference comprises six districts: Great Miami River, Western Lakes, Maumee River, Scioto River, Hocking River, and Olentangy River, each led by a District Superintendent. These superintendents oversee the ministry of clergy and churches, provide spiritual and pastoral leadership, and collaborate with the Conference's Cabinet to appoint ordained ministers and oversee programs within their districts.
