The West Tennessee Delta Heritage Center is a captivating destination that invites you to uncover the rich cultural heritage of West Tennessee. Established in 1998, our mission is to share the vibrant history and traditions of this remarkable region with the world.
Located in the hometown of the legendary Tina Turner, our center pays tribute to her iconic career with the Tina Turner Museum. Within the walls of the historic Flagg Grove School, Tina Turner's childhood school, you'll discover a remarkable exhibit showcasing her costumes, gold records, and personal memorabilia.
But our center is more than just a tribute to Tina Turner. It is also a celebration of West Tennessee's musical legacy. Home to country blues pioneers like "Sleepy" John Estes, Hammie Nixon, and Yank Rachell, our grounds are graced by the last residence of "Sleepy" John Estes, providing a glimpse into his life.
Beyond music, our center highlights the region's agricultural bounty and natural wonders. The West Tennessee Cotton Museum offers insights into the production and management of cotton since the 1800s. Additionally, visitors can explore the scenic Hatchie River, the last "wild" river in the lower Mississippi system, and engage with our three freshwater aquariums.
When you visit, our friendly and knowledgeable staff and Hospitality Ambassadors are available to assist with directions, reservations, and insider information about area attractions. Take a moment to relax in our welcoming center, savor a cup of coffee, and peruse our unique gift shop featuring regionally-produced items that you won't find elsewhere.
As a cherished destination for travelers, we offer clean restrooms and free WiFi in our lobby. We also welcome tour buses and can arrange guided tours of our museums for groups.
We are proud to provide this cultural treasure to the community and rely on the generous support of the Friends of the Delta Heritage Center. By considering leaving a donation, you help us continue to offer free access and vibrant programming for all.
Visit the West Tennessee Delta Heritage Center and immerse yourself in the stories, traditions, and natural beauty that define rural West Tennessee.
