At 23, I was coasting, but I was aware that wouldn’t lead to a fulfilling life. Programming looked like a way up, but there were no clear paths to becoming a developer. Everyone

I remember thinking “If someone would give me a direction to run in, I’d run my ass off.”

Without any direction on what languages to learn, and no certainty in a path, I took every chance I found to code. I would building small websites, AHK automations, PDF generators. A friend finally pointed me toward Salesforce. I dove into admin work, landed an entry-level role at a fintech consulting firm, and in week one wrote a five-year plan to start my own shop.

My wife and I sold our stuff, moved into a van, and chased mountain ranges for years while working at that consulting firm. Weekdays were made up of working on the road. Weekends were made up of summiting mountains. Large software implementations taught me timelines measured in years, not weeks. I quickly began to mentally combine mountain climbing with those large projects. To think of the entire amount of work to be done all at once was overwhelming, but when I would focus on taking one step at a time, I found that I was at the top quickly.

Climbing solo is possible; climbing as a synced team is significantly more powerful. At that firm I learned what great teams do: carry more, spot each other, and let strengths cover weaknesses. Knowledge spread, clients got excited, and growth compounded. I founded We Summit Mountains on that belief. We are better and any one of us. Synchronized learning and specialization let us tackle bigger systems and help clients grow with us. We get better together and climb higher because of each other.

That’s why the company is not called "I Summit Mountains."
