World Flora Online is an international initiative aimed at achieving Target 1 of the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation. It offers a comprehensive global overview of plant species diversity and is an indispensable tool for conservation planners, policymakers, and practitioners at all levels. With descriptions of 38% of 374,623 accepted species, World Flora Online provides crucial data for the conservation of plant species. The project collaborates with 51 Consortium Members and utilizes data from the World Checklist of Vascular Plants and associated Floras to create a detailed map showing the global distribution of plant species.

In addition to providing valuable data, World Flora Online also features recent stories related to plant conservation efforts, such as its December 2023 release and the recognition of Catalogue of Life (CoL) as a critical biodata resource.
