About Whakaata Māori
Whakaata Māori, also known as Māori Television, is New Zealand's national indigenous media organization. With a strong focus on revitalizing and normalizing the Māori language, Whakaata Māori promotes educational, entertaining, and engaging programming. It recognizes that the Māori language is the cornerstone of Māori culture and identity, and therefore, it must be preserved and fostered.
Whakaata Māori offers a diverse range of content through various platforms. This includes a bilingual linear channel, Whakaata Māori, and a 100% Māori language channel, Te Reo, both available on Freeview and Sky. In addition, they provide on-demand content and live streaming of special events through their websites in both English and Māori.
They also have a strong presence on popular social media channels and offer mobile phone apps for easy access to their content.
