The Wharton Africa Student Association (WASA) is an inclusive, student-run club at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. It serves as a hub for Africa-related activities, bringing together African students, students who have lived or worked in Africa, and anyone with a professional or cultural interest in the continent. WASA supports its community through career preparation, networking, academic support, and social gatherings, as well as treks to Africa.
Its programming includes the Wharton Africa Business Forum and Africa Week, creating opportunities for members to connect, learn, and engage with topics related to the continent. The association also welcomes prospective students and maintains connections with alumni through resources such as an alumni newsletter and contact opportunities. WASA shares updates and member experiences through its social media channels, including Instagram and LinkedIn.
As part of the Wharton Graduate Association, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, WASA provides a community and platform for students to build relationships and participate in Africa-focused academic, professional, and cultural activities at Wharton
