The White House Correspondents' Association (WHCA) is dedicated to promoting excellence in journalism and ensuring comprehensive news coverage of the U. S. Founded on the principles enshrined in the First Amendment, WHCA advocates for a vibrant, independent press that is essential to a healthy democracy.
The association comprises journalists from print, television, radio, and online platforms, serving a diverse and global audience. WHCA not only recognizes outstanding political reporting through annual awards but also invests in the future of journalism with scholarships aimed at young reporters. Each year, dozens of scholarship winners are invited to Washington, D.
C., to celebrate their achievements and encourage their continued pursuit of excellence in reporting. Additionally, WHCA works tirelessly to ensure that correspondents have the necessary access and resources to obtain insights from powerful officials, including the President.
