Our local bus routes connect Cambridgeshire’s towns and villages, while the fully-electric Universal service helps thousands of passengers travel across the University of Cambridge’s city-wide network every day. We also operate national and international coaches for FlixBus, taking passengers as far as Paris and Amsterdam. Whippet is a well-established brand with a rich history dating back to 1919 when Mr. & Mrs. Henry Lee started running buses in Graveley.
Over the years, Whippet expanded its services to include routes to St Neots, St Ives, Cambridge, London, and even coastal destinations. Despite the challenges of wartime, Whippet thrived and supported local businesses in Cambridgeshire. In 2014, the Lee family passed the business to Tower Transit, now a part of the Ascendal Group.
Today, Whippet is known for its modern fleet, including full-electric buses for the University of Cambridge, and a commitment to environmentally friendly practices meeting the 'Euro VI' low emission standards. They also provide national and international coach services for Flixbus. With a focus on community service and continuous adaptation, Whippet remains dedicated to providing reliable and eco-friendly transportation solutions.
