Whitefish Skijoring

Whitefish Skijoring Nonprofit Association is a nonprofit organization that has hosted skijoring events in Montana’s Flathead Valley since 2003, continuing a local tradition that dates back to the 1960s. Its annual event takes place alongside the Whitefish Winter Carnival and brings together horse riders and skiers for a fast-paced competition featuring jumps. The association invites competitors, spectators, volunteers, vendors, and sponsors to take part in the festivities.

Its website provides information for competitors and spectators, along with opportunities to volunteer, sponsor the event, and explore photos and videos from past gatherings. Sponsorship offers businesses visibility among event participants and spectators. The organization’s history reflects the event’s early years on Central Avenue, its later move to the Mountain Trails Saddle Club, and its revival in the early 2000s after a local campaign.

Whitefish Skijoring emphasizes safety and event quality, working with partners and volunteers to create a suitable course. The association announced that its 2026 event was canceled because unusually warm conditions prevented snowmaking and made it impossible to prepare a safe track
