Whitehead Light Station is a nonprofit historic lighthouse retreat on Whitehead Island, off the Maine coast. With more than two centuries of maritime history, the station continues to guide mariners while welcoming visitors to experience island life, coastal nature, and the stories of the lighthouse. Its adult programs, led by expert instructors, combine engaging discussions, lectures, and hands-on activities in a memorable oceanfront setting. Guests can balance learning and exploration with time to unwind in comfortable accommodations and enjoy the station’s peaceful surroundings.

For a more private stay, Whitehead Light Station offers exclusive weekly rentals from June through October. Set on 11 acres, the historic seven-bedroom Lightkeeper’s house includes private bathrooms, sitting rooms, a library, and a full kitchen, making it suitable for families, friends, or small groups. The organization also provides information about weddings, gift certificates, program schedules, and rental inquiries. Supported by tax-deductible donations, Whitehead Light Station works to preserve the lighthouse and sustain its educational programs and community initiatives.
