White Rose Aikikai is an independent association of Traditional Aikido dojos, founded in 1979 by Shane Riley Shihan, 7th Dan. The organisation promotes the practice and spirit of Aikido as originated by Morihei Ueshiba, with the aim of developing the art and its practitioners through commitment to its principles and philosophy. Training places particular emphasis on dynamic, effective technique while teaching all aspects of Traditional Aikido. Students are encouraged to practise with enthusiasm, observe etiquette, and show respect for fellow students through their conduct on and off the mat.
White Rose Aikikai offers Aikido instruction and training at dojos across England, with its headquarters in Ossett, near Wakefield, and locations including Pudsey, Durham, Stockport and Herefordshire. It also lists dojos in Kyoto and Bangkok. The association provides information on joining, terminology and grading, and shares articles, interviews, videos and event coverage for its community. White Rose Aikikai is a member of the British Aikido Board, and all its instructors hold BAB coaching certification at Level C1 or above.
