Whitianga Run Festival is a family-friendly coastal running and walking event held in Whitianga, in New Zealand’s Coromandel region. Bringing together participants, families, supporters, volunteers and sponsors, the festival celebrates fitness, community and an enjoyable day by the sea. Its flat, single-lap courses have measured distances and good running surfaces, with scenic views of Mercury Bay, the Whitianga estuary and Whitianga Waterways.
Participants can choose from 5km, 10km and 21km routes, which pass beaches, marina and harbour pathways, and the Buffalo Beach foreshore. The event welcomes runners and walkers, including those who mix both, and provides finishers with a commemorative medal. Coromandel schoolchildren can take part for free through support from G.J. Gardner Homes Coromandel.
The festival shares course details, entry and event information, safety guidance, results and event galleries. It also promotes Whitianga as a place to stay and enjoy local accommodation, restaurants and recreational activities. Official event merchandise, including branded T-shirts, is offered for sale, while a newsletter provides festival news, early entry alerts and updates.
